Giving reflects your commitment to God and He wants you to realize this fact as well. As mentioned in 2 Corinthians 8:3-5, the believers gave freely, but “they first gave themselves to the Lord.” We are to give ourselves to Him and out of that relationship will grow the generosity that allow you to give to the church.
At REAP Church we believe that God has divinely conditioned His blessings to us on our generosity. Romans 8:32 says that we should desire to give – freely, generously, and cheerfully – because that is how God has given to us. Moreover, Matthew 5:7 says blessed and prosperous in God’s favour are the merciful, for they will receive mercy.
We believe the truth in tithing in Malachi 3:10, “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, so that there may be food in My house, and test Me now in this, says the Lord of hosts, if I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you a blessing until it overflows.” We should not ‘give to get’ because the truth of God has taught us that we have received God’s mercy. Giving the tithe means we return what belongs to Him, which the Lords has entrusted to us and that it matters to Him that we do give.
Jesus opens His hands when we open ours.
